Sea Bunny's systems

Sea Bunny has a Volvo Penta main engine, generator, inverter, 2 wind generators,2 solar panels & watermaker supporting us


Engine

 

VOLVO PENTA MD22P 57hp (2001), MS25-A reduction gearbox with 8 degree down-angle (2006), shaft drive replaced with a similar ZF-Hurth ZF25MA in November 2008.

Major service, new starter motor 2013

Propeller

 

Brunton Autoprop H6 self pitching rebladed 2006 on fitting the new gearbox.

Fixed blade propeller carried as spare

Batteries

 

Three independent 12v battery banks. One battery of 90 A-Hrs (2014) dedicated to engine start and charged by an engine driven 60 A alternator. One bank of 570 A-Hrs (2015) Trojan gel batteries dedicated to domestic services charged by a Balmar 160A engine driven alternator (2010) through Balmar intelligent regulator, by inverter/charger and/or wind and solar generators. Third battery (2009) for generator starting, charged by auxiliary circuit on generator.

Inverter/charger

 

Victron 2000VA/80A, 2012, for for charging domestic battery and supplying 240V AC from battery when generator or shorepower are not available. 30A AC pass-through.

Shore power

 

220/240 V shore power circuit with galvanic isolation, earth leakage and overload protection.

Generator

 

Paguro 4000, 4 kVA powered by a Farymann single-cylinder Diesel engine 2013

 Mounted in a sound-reducing enclosure in the engine compartment.

Alternative (green) power

 

2 x Silentwind (2012 & 2015) wind generators.
2 x 135W Kyocera solar panels 2009. Additional 40 W solar panel 2001..

Main lighting by Alpenglow fluorescent lights, 2 intensity

8000 BTU/hr built-in air conditioner to main cabin 2009

Water-maker

 

Spectra DC system 60l/hr 2001.

Clark pump factory refurbished, new membrane & feed head pump 2016

Fresh water

 

Hot and cold pressurised water system (pump new 2006) to galley, heads and bathing shower.

Grey water pumps to forward heads and aftheads/galley 2015

Sea water

 

Pressurised sea water system piped to anchor locker for anchor and deck washdown.

Washing machine

 

Small twin-tub. Stowed and used in forward heads..
